We have been enjoying really positive and creative discussions with Wellington City Council (WCC) over the last 6 months about how we could work together to achieve our shared goal of revitalising and developing resilience within suburban centres.
Yesterday my co-founder Charmaine Meyers and I met with Sophie Parsons from the Community team at WCC.
We talked about about how much we would love some WCC staff members to join our local workplace community as co-workers.
We both saw some wonderful benefits in this. Both for staff that live locally, but would prefer not to commute into town. And for those that serve the local community, being "on site" would mean being much more in touch with people and issues.
WCC staff that join Sub Urban would be working amongst a plethora of different business people - the opportunity for shared learning is pretty exciting!
For Sub Urban extending our membership to WCC is another step in creating a local workplace that reflects and supports our wonderfully diverse working community.
Big thanks to Sophie for her time and enthusiasm and for staying to have lunch with us. We can't wait to welcome our new co-workers!
