I met Ann Woolston from Smartways builders today. It was a meeting of like minds.
Ann and her husband Howard have created a successful residential renovation and extensions business by identifying the pain points (we’ve all felt this right?) in home renovations.
You know the ones - unreliable tradies, getting plans drawn up and then finding out you can’t afford to do (after spending loads of cash on design and council approvals) the work after all. Ann and Howard can give you a ball park before you even start down this road.
Uniquely Ann also provides a women’s perspective in the process - the woman in the household is quite often the one that drives the design process in a renovation but often feels intimidated or “not heard” in the process. Ann builds relationship and explains the renovation process in an inclusive way.
And how abut the hassle of managing all the trades? Ann and Howard sort this too. End to end. Yay.
From a community perspective, which we value so much here at Sub Urban, the Woolstons are long term Tawa residents, and are are super active in their community - helping out with a bunch of pro bono work over the years and running neighbours get togethers.
Love it. Business benefiting from community, and community benefiting from business.
