This is Brett Hudson (and the Queen in the background).
Brett is the National List MP for Ohariu. Brett had very kindly come to our launch of Sub Urban Artspace last week so I thought I'd pop in and say "thank you" and learn more about what he does.
Brett is pretty keen about making stuff happen more easily - both from a community perspective and within the business sector.
For the business sector this means resources like http://www.business.govt.nz/ and developing flexibility in working conditions. This could be late starts or remote working, and of course the Ultra Fast Boradband network. Brett lives in the Northern 'burbs and is pretty excited about getting UFB at home too!
Interestingly little ol' NZ ranks 2nd only to Singapore in the http://www.doingbusiness.org/rankings. So I guess we ain't doing too badly (despite frustrations I in the hear in the business community about Health and Safety!).
From a community perspective Brett and his team work hard on facilitating good results for people that are having a tricky time navigating the system - stuff like helping out understanding what WINZ can offer if your've lost your job.
Brett really enjoys finding the "hidden gems" in Wellington's northern suburbs - lately he has visited locals Taylor Preston http://www.taylorpreston.co.nz/ and Kiwi Community Assistance http://www.kca.org.nz/. Examples of community and business doing great things.
Thanks so much for spending time with me this morning Brett, and thank you for your interest in Sub Urban.
